Language is a powerful self-developing system, but we should not let it down.

 

The TV companies violate the law on language every single day. First, we talk about the programs broadcast in other languages, let alone the programs in a correct, pure Armenian. Head of the State Language Inspectorate of Armenia Sergo Yeritsyan added that we hear such words and phrases on television, which are even hard to imagine. “The streets and television should never be identified with linguistic culture,” the head of the Inspectorate says.


The language Inspectorate has no leverage to bring to justice and is only limited to writing letters. The package of legislative amendments is ready, and according to Sergo Yeritsyan, the package is expected to be represented in the National Assembly.
