Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway could not be completely against Armenia, but it was a political project for a certain period. Arsen Kharatyan, chief editor of the Georgian-Based “Aliq Media” information platform, underlines that the funds invested in the construction of this railway imply that this was also aimed at isolating Armenia in a psychological term. “And ‘the lion’s share’ of those funds has been invested by Azerbaijan. Of course, this project was not exclusively against Armenia, but yes, it was used,” he says.

Arsen Kharatyan believes that Georgia has never intended to isolate Armenia, just has been guided by its own interests. “Another matter is that for the past few years, Georgia’s price for reducing Russian influence was the asymmetric relations with Azerbaijan and Turkey," Kharatyan emphasizes.
