Who is Nzhdeh? The response of the Philosophy Associate and research fellow at the University of Lester to the Russian media

Recently Russian media are trying to present the Armenian statesman in a negative light.

Who is Nzhdeh? Recently Russian media are trying to present Nzhdeh and his ideas in a negative light. Associate Professor of the Chair of History of Philosophy at Yerevan State University Armen Sargsyan, while speaking about Nzhdeh, notes with regret that, people are not aware of why Nzhdeh is well known in the Armenian reality.

“Not only did Nzhdeh carry out fruitful national, military and political activities, but he also left a rich legacy. It is difficult to introduce him briefly: Nzhdeh was a man who had ideological beliefs and, unlike many politicians who applied for the presence in the political arena, his activity was pursued on the pedestal of his ideological beliefs,” emphasizes Sargsyan. He adds that despite the controversy, these beliefs were shaped on the basis of national and universal harmony.

Eduard Abrahamyan, a research fellow at the University of Leicester, points out that the Russian media misinterpret Nzhdeh's words and image. “There is no such figure as Nzhdeh in our history and it is no accident that they have targeted a person who devoted his whole life to the independence of Armenia,” says Abrahamyan.
