Zarmine Zeytuntsyan: Shortcomings of any sphere directly affect tourism industry

Specific measures are required to develop tourism, and the priority is Armenia's recognition.

 

Armenia is interesting to the world for its nature, historical and cultural heritage and history. Being an ancient country with such a rich culture Armenia has become known to the world only 25 years ago. “So, if we know us well and we are already tired, to the world we are new and exciting,” chairperson of State Tourism Committee of Armenia Zarmine Zeytuntsyan emphasizes.

Taking into account new trends of the international tourism, Armenia is also interesting for the new markets. “Today the ordinary tourism, for example, sightseeing has sputtered out; the new trend is the experiential tourism, which is more educational, that is when people want to learn about new cultures,” the chairperson notes.

Specific measures are required to develop tourism, and according to Zarmine Zeytuntsyan, the priority is Armenia's recognition. “Moreover, we also have the problem of internal recognition. We do not recognize our country. We have an issue of knowing and loving it,” she stresses. As for the recognition of Armenia among Diaspora, then Zeytuntsyan supposes that the information about the country is rather politicized among Armenian Diaspora.
