Areg Galstyan’s commentary on consequences of Trump’s Jerusalem move or possible developments in the Middle East

The reasons for Trump’s decision, Russian factor and influence and so on.

The announcement of Trump to proclaim Jerusalem as a “eternal and undivided” capital of Israel was a novelty for the American side. According to political analyst, americanist Areg Galstyan, many US officials have hinted, but none of them has clearly stated this.

As the political scientist said, no one has supported the United States, even its key allies such as Great Britain, France, Germany, and the Middle East ally Turkey even threatened to break diplomatic relations with Israel and to withdraw from several agreements with US.

“This move has also activated the League of Arab States; Iran, one of the biggest players in the Middle East, has also objected to this,” the political scientist says. Nevertheless, Areg Galstyan believes that the Arab world cannot have a serious impact because it is very divided. “The Arab world is in crisis. This is not the same Arab world that existed in 1947; it has neither Yasser Arafat nor Gamal Abdel Nasser. Today's Arab world and its attitude to Israel are ambiguous,” he notes.

The details regarding the reasons for Trump’s decision, Russian factor and influence, Israeli calculations, and so on in the program “Paradigm”.
