The response of Armenia regarding Russian arms sale to Azerbaijan is not a secret, it has been repeatedly expressed. Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Tigran Balayan adds this was also expressed in Moscow. “Our official response is quite clear, and we have repeatedly raised it publicly in Moscow, even in Israel. Our reaction is that the sale of weapons to Azerbaijan does not contribute to the security in the region, as the supply of arms to such an unpredictable state that does not respect its international obligations can lead to unforeseeable consequences,” he says.

In reply to the question why we are afraid to say it is not good that Russia sells weapons to Azerbaijan, Tigran Balayan first answers, we’ve said that it is not good, that it is problematic. Then, he adds, “The problem is that Azerbaijan purchases arms, not who sells them”.
